Another successful spring clean

The Westminster estate in Ellesmere Port played host to this year’s third successful Spring Clean your Neighbourhood event last week.

There was great support from residents and staff who all offered their time to help, including Plus Dane's engagement team, Environmental Services and volunteers from Love Your Streets, a staff volunteer programme run by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Together the group cleared grot spots, picked litter and filled three skips with unwanted bulky waste. It also provided an opportunity to highlight the impact of flytipping on the environment and provide residents with a handy Good Neighbours Guide to help them report local environmental issues.

On the day transport charity  Sustrans, who are currently delivering street art projects in Ellesmere Port, worked with youngsters from Princes Trust development programme to brighten up a footpath by decorating it with hand-painted flowers.

Plus Dane’s regeneration manager Toria Buzza said: “It was our most successful event in terms of resident buy in and feedback. A huge thank you goes to all the staff and volunteers for their hard work and giving generously of their time – we could not have done it without you!’

The next Spring Clean Your Neighbourhood event will take place on Friday, September 9 in the Neston area.
