Community Urged to Show Love for L8

24.07.2019

A group of local organisations are urging people living in the L8 area to come out and show their love for their own community at a series of events taking place this summer.

‘Loving L8’ is a series of day-long events which will see residents get involved in litter-picking during the morning, followed by an afternoon of fun activities for all.

Events will take place across three dates throughout July and August in a bid to encourage local residents to come together and give their own community a little bit of TLC.

Sian Martin-Baez, Strategic Partnerships Manager at Plus Dane Housing, one of the organisations involved, said: “This is going to be brilliant opportunity for L8 residents to come out and socialise with each other whilst also making a fantastic contribution to the community. The events in the afternoon promise to be a lot of fun so it would be great to see as many people getting involved as possible.”

The first event, will take place at Cockburn Street on the 30th July with another event taking place at Millennium Green opposite Upper Mann Street on 15th August. Two events will run on 30th August, one of these will begin at Kelvin Grove, covering the Welsh Streets and the other will begin at FireFit, covering the Carter Thackeray and Windsor Street area.

The initiative is being organised by Granby Toxteth Development Trust, Plus Dane Housing, Onward, North West Housing Services, Torus Housing, Riverside Housing, Steve Biko Housing and Liverpool City Council.

Lindsey Guy, Chief Executive at Granby Toxteth Development Trust, said “Granby Toxteth Development Trust has been proud to be the organiser of the Loving Lodge Lane for the past 6 years along with the Loving Millennium Green and Cockburn Street events.  All of these events are part of our annual summer programme to engage with the L8 community, so it is great to see the local Housing Associations getting involved this year and for the Carter Thackary/Windsor Street area to be getting its own event.”
