Do you know your numbers?

29.08.2018

Know Your Numbers is Blood Pressure UK’s flagship campaign, raising awareness of the importance of having your blood pressure tested and understanding what your numbers mean.

Know Your Numbers states “High blood pressure usually has no symptoms, which is why it is  often referred to as the silent killer. The only way to know you have it is to have a check. If detected, it can be easily treated thereby reducing your risk of a stroke or heart disease.”

Everybody Sport and Recreation have teamed up with local NHS Trusts, and a range of local organisations, such as Cheshire East Council, Plus Dane Housing, One You Cheshire East and Cheshire Work and Pensions, to provide free blood pressure checks and Lifestyle advice during Know Your Numbers, across Cheshire.

By having a blood pressure test, you will have a clear understanding of what your blood pressure readings mean, and if it is high, what easy steps you can take to reduce your blood pressure. Further support will be available such as signposting to services to help you to become more active, lose weight, eat healthy, stop smoking and much more if required.

Donna Williamson, Senior Manager Health and Wellbeing at Everybody Sport and Recreation, shares, “Knowing your blood pressure numbers and knowing what they mean is so important and we are urging everyone to take this opportunity to drop in to any of our pressure stations and have the test done.

Donna continues,”It has been great working together with local organisations to raise as much awareness of Blood Pressure UK’s campaign as possible. It really has allowed us to reach more people and provide even more pressure stations across Cheshire for people to attend. After the success of running the campaign last year and seeing over 200 people, this year is going to be even bigger.”
