Healthy families project returns to Bromley Farm for Summer

Families in Congleton are being offered the opportunity to learn how to cook healthy meals, and enjoy a free lunch, throughout the summer holidays.

Plus Dane Housing and Healthbox CIC are excited to welcome local families with children of primary school age to The Bromley Farm Wellbeing Hub. Families are invited to sign up for one of ten sessions being held throughout August.

Usman Ashiq, Strategic Partnerships Manager at Plus Dane, said: “We understand the importance of providing opportunities to support parents and children thrive and live healthy lifestyles. The sessions will offer a chance for parents and children to try their hands at healthy cooking so we expect the sessions to be full of enjoyment and learning. We’re really pleased to be able to support local families.”

“The project has been a huge success since it first started in October 2017, with over 40 families taking place during half terms. The project supports families with children of primary school age from Congleton.”

Mark Gleave from Healthbox said: “These two hour sessions will provide children with free, healthy and cooked food in the school holidays. This strong partnership between us and Plus Dane Housing will help parents and children to learn in a fun and practical way, and support their social and personal development.”

The project will also run a range of fun activities for children, designed to improve their knowledge and awareness around healthy eating. Parents will receive practical support around food budgeting, healthy, low cost recipes and more.
