Helping customers as the end of the coronavirus eviction ban approaches
We know the uncertainty around coronavirus has had a huge impact on people’s finances, employment and access to support services. And as the government’s ‘eviction ban’ comes to an end at the end of this month, we would like to reassure our customers that we will continue to support those struggling with rent as much as we can.
Plus Dane is part of the Liverpool City Region Housing Associations group (LCRHA), which has come together to make a public commitment to customers worried about the future of their tenancies. This commitment has been supported by the Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson.
When lockdown began in March, the Government took steps to prevent landlords in England and Wales from evicting tenants, to help protect those who may have begun to struggle to pay the rent. This was extended to last until the end of September, but there are fears that when it ends this could lead to a big rise in homelessness as the backlog of eviction cases hits the courts. As your landlord we are keeping a close eye on any changes to Government rulings and advice on this issue.
Chair of LCRHA, Bronwen Rapley, said: “Liverpool housing associations have deep roots in our communities and the welfare of customers is always our top priority. As the eviction ban ends, we are reassuring customers that we will continue our supportive approach to helping people stay in their homes.
"We are committed to taking further action to ensure that no one ends up on the streets as a result of financial hardship caused by coronavirus.”
