January 2021 Coronavirus Update
An update on how we will be delivering services following the latest Government guidance.
Last night, new guidance was issued by the government in response to rising rates of Coronavirus across the country. The new guidance effectively signalled the start of a new full lockdown, like that which the country experienced in March of last year. The guidance outlined that, as of today:
- We must stay at home and only leave our homes for essential purposes such as shopping for essentials, exercising, providing care, medical appointments or fleeing domestic violence.
- Those who are clinically vulnerable should begin shielding and will soon receive a letter providing more information
- Schools will be closing except for the children of key workers and those children that may have vulnerabilities
- Early years settings such as nurseries will remain open
- There will be support put in place for children who would normally receive free school meals

We wanted to provide an update on how our services will be delivered during this period of lockdown.
In order to keep you and our colleagues safe in your home, we will be carrying out repairs where there is an urgent need to make something safe, or where something may become unsafe if it is not repaired. We will also undertake repairs that can be completed quickly, and in a single visit. We will also be carrying out repairs and associated works to empty properties.
We've put together a series of helpful 'how to' videos to help you carry out simple repairs like unblocking a sink or bleeding a radiator. These can all be found here.
We will continue to undertake compliance work, including gas safety checks and electrical testing, to keep you safe in your home.
To keep residents safe, all non-essential visits to our schemes from other visitors and colleagues have been suspended.
We will continue to deliver our winter programme of works
We will continue to complete communal cleaning and window cleaning services where it is safe to do so.
Our Financial Independence Team are available to support any customers who are experiencing financial hardship, or need advice about how to maximise their income and access any benefits that they may be entitled to.
At any point if we need to come into your home to deliver a service, we have carried out the necessary risk assessments and have provided our colleagues with the correct guidance and equipment for them to be able to carry out the job as safely as possible.
At the point of booking your appointment, we will ask you if you or anyone in your household has coronavirus or is self-isolating. We will also call ahead before we arrive at your home to check the information you have provided remains the same. If you or anyone in your household has had a positive test or is self-isolating, please do let us know so that we can protect each other as much as possible.
We have asked all colleagues to wear a face covering when in your home as a further protective measure. We would kindly ask that if you are able to, you also wear a face covering at the point of us entering and exiting your home, where it is more likely that we will be in the same room.
We will be constantly reviewing the latest Government guidance and updating how we deliver services as required. We would once again ask for your patience and understanding as we work within the restrictions set out by Government, and prioritise the safety of our customers and colleagues.
