Tenants in some neighbourhoods managed by social landlord Plus Dane Group will soon be benefitting from a new in house environmental service.
Award-winning social enterprise IN Environmental Services (INES) – which is part of the Plus Dane Group – will begin upkeep of grassed areas on May 1 after being awarded 50% of the Cheshire Grounds Maintenance contract.
The not-for-profit service, which will work from Plus Dane’s depot off Back Lane, Congleton, promises to keep jobs and skills local. As a first step, INES has agreed to buy all its equipment from local firm Congleton Garden Machinery.
Head of INES, Joe Feeley, said: "Residents in Alsager and other Cheshire neighbourhoods can look forward to a great service, with workers who are approachable and focused on problem solving and offering a wider range of services.
"We exist to improve the environment and create jobs and training opportunities for local people. People will soon start noticing the difference we make."
INES is a social enterprise that is part of Neighbourhood investor Plus Dane Group. The multi-award winning business, which is has been praised by leading politicians of all parties, was set up 10 years ago with the aim of creating much needed local work and training opportunities.
