Plus Dane anti-social behaviour expert wins award

One of Plus Dane Housing’s anti-social behaviour experts has been recognised with a top industry award.

Community safety officer Steven Horton was named Practitioner of the Year at the Resolve ASB awards, described as the UK’s premier awards for effective practice in tackling antisocial behaviour.

Resolve ASB is the UK's leading organisation specialising in delivering effective solutions to antisocial behaviour. The not-for-profit represents more than 300 organisations across social housing and related professional sectors. The awards form part of their annual conference, held in Solihull this week.

Steven was put forward for the award by his manager, Nicola Andrews. She said: “Steven thoroughly deserves this award. I am constantly blown away by his commitment and enthusiasm for his role, particularly his passion and tenacity to make things better and help those people who sometimes struggle to help themselves.

“He takes his role very seriously and works well with colleagues, other peers and customers in a professional and honest, no nonsense way, and it is brilliant to see him recognised.”

Executive director (neighbourhoods) Andrea Howarth said: “Plus Dane’s anti-social behaviour team is integral to the service we provide, and Steve’s skills, experience and confidence in his role form a really important part of that. To be awarded Practitioner of the Year is a huge testament to the quality of his work, and something that our customers benefit from every day.”

Sharon McLoughlin, head of professional practice at Resolve, said: “We received a high number of entries for this particular award, all of a very high standard. In a field of extremely strong candidates, Steve’s win was very well deserved.”

Steven has worked in the field of anti-social behaviour for 13 years, and outside of work is a published local history author.
