Plus Dane secures Warm Homes funding

09.04.2019

Plus Dane Housing has been successful in a bid for nearly £500,000 from the Warm Homes Fund, to help improve homes with inefficient heating.

The money will make up part of a £1.5m project for the housing association, which is now identifying the homes most in need of the work, to ensure they meet the highest energy efficiency standards and help tenants keep fuel costs down.

The Warm Home Fund grant of £497,000, along with Plus Dane’s own contribution, will enable 250 homes that are currently heated by inefficient electric storage heaters to be connected to mains gas. It will also fund the installation of 250 condensing combi boilers and insulation top-ups in 15 cavity walls and 20 lofts.

The Warm Homes Fund is a ring-fenced £150 million pot aimed at targeting households in fuel poverty.

Madeleine Nelson, Plus Dane’s executive director (growth) said: “We are delighted to have secured this amount of funding from the Warm Homes Fund. Our customers have told us that keeping warm and reducing the cost of heating their homes is the number one priority for them. We will be directing the funding to our, customers who need it most as part of our plans to improve the quality of our homes. We continue to find ways to enhance the energy efficiency of our homes and reduce household running costs.”

“This project will be delivered in partnership with E.ON and is expected to start by the end of the year and be completed by spring 2021.”
