Plus Dane Housing is proud to be supporting an inspirational customer to set up a community defibrillator at his family home.
Aidan Jackson has been fundraising to install community defibrillators since his teens, and approached his housing association, Plus Dane, to ask if he could place the 40th defibrillator of his ongoing campaign outside his Widnes home.
Plus Dane covered the cost of the equipment and colleagues installed the defibrillator in May. Although the defibrillator is on a Plus Dane home, it is registered on The Circuit, a national network that allows the emergency services to direct members of the public to it in life-threatening situations.
Aidan, who turns 23 in June, said: “It is a great milestone to have installed our 40th defibrillator and I couldn’t think of a better place for it to be than our home. I am grateful to Plus Dane for their support.”
The Jackson family held a launch event at their Francis Close home that included CPR awareness training, and will continue to fundraise to keep the equipment maintained. The family say many of Aidan’s defibrillators have been accessed and used in emergency situations, and they know of at least one person whose life was saved as a result.
Aidan has raised tens of thousands of pounds over the years for a range of good causes, including a foundation set up following the tragic death of a close friend. From sponsored walks and swims to bingo nights and concerts, he is always thinking of ways to spread awareness and raise money to help the community.
Danielle Sharp, Director of Communications and External Affairs at Plus Dane, said: “When Aidan asked us for support to install a community defibrillator, we were blown away by his fundraising achievements and the fact that his work is savings lives. Aidan is a fantastic role model for his community, and we are proud to be supporting such a great cause.”
Thanks to Kieran Jennion, Plus Dane Electrician, who installed the defibrator at Aiden's home and supported the launch event.
