Our specialist team that helps customers maximise their income secured more than £1.8m over the last financial year – almost double that of the year before.
Our welfare team dealt with more than 1000 referrals and enquires over 12 months.
The team of five are on hand to help customers who may not be aware of what benefits they are entitled to, who might be struggling with debt and arrears and need advice and support, or may lack the digital skills to navigate online application forms.
The 2024/25 total of £1.8m was a significant increase on the money secured for customers in 2023/24 (£711k). Reasons for this include the ongoing cost of living crisis, and the team targeting customers with specific awareness campaigns around unclaimed benefits like Pension Credit.
They also refer customers to the RAISE debt advice service that we partner with, putting an extra £1.5m back into people’s pockets.
Our Director of Customer Experience Natalie Rose said: “As a social landlord it is vital we do our best to help people clear their debts and stay in their homes, rather than suffering in silence and worry.
“Our Welfare Team do outstanding work supporting our customers, helping them maximise their income and sometimes securing significant back payments people didn’t know they were entitled to.”
