the path to owning your own home

As a rental customer there are a number of Government Schemes available which may allow you to buy your home.

Most of our rental customers do not have 'Right to Buy'. However, depending on your tenancy and how or when your home was built, you may have the 'Preserved Right to Buy' or 'Right to Acquire' your home at a discount.

If you qualify for Right to Buy, you may receive up to 70% discount off the market value of your home, up to a maximum of £82,800. The amount of discount will depend on the length of your tenancy history.

You can find out whether you are eligible to purchase your home through these schemes here. You can also fill in your application here.

The Government's Right to Buy website also offers free and impartial advice on the Right to Buy scheme. Their advisors can also help you through the process.

Please note it is important that you have proof of your tenancy history before applying.

You can apply here through the Government website.  Please send all completed applications to:

Salthouse Quay
Royal Albert Dock
Liverpool
L3 4AE

For any other enquiries please call 0800 169 2988.

Due to the high level of enquiries we receive from customers we advise reading the Government information online first before contacting us. It may take 5 days for us to respond to an initial RTB enquiry.

If you qualify for the Right to Acquire, you may receive a set discount amount of either £9,000 or £10,000 (depending on the area where you live) off the market value of your home, regardless of how long you have been in your home. Click here for the latest information on this scheme.

Your home must have been built, bought or transferred to us after the 1st April 1997 and meet certain funding criteria in order to qualify for the scheme.

You can apply here through the Government website. Please send all completed applications to:

Rent to Buy gives you the chance to rent your ideal home for up to five years at a discounted rate of 20% below the market rental value. This gives you time to save for a deposit to buy the property in the future.

The great thing about the Rent to Buy scheme is that, as your circumstances change, so do your options. After the five year period of discounted rent, you can assess your purchase options – including buying your home outright if you can afford to, or buying a percentage of it through Shared Ownership if your finances won’t cover the full property value.

To be eligible for Rent to Buy you must be:

  • Working, and intending to buy your own home within the first five years of renting
  • A first-time buyer, or returning to the market ( a previous homeowner who no longer owns a property), earning less the £80,000 per year per household
  • Able to afford the rent, and pass a credit reference check

There is a fee of £100 for each credit reference check, and a deposit of one month’s rent is payable before you move in. Have a look at our current Rent to Buy homes here.
