Your tenancy

Find out everything you need to know about your tenancy here.

Tenancy agreement

Your tenancy agreement is a legal document that you sign at the start of your tenancy.

If you break your tenancy agreement, we can take action to gain possession of your home. If you are not sure what tenancy you have, or if you have any questions about your rights and responsibilities, please contact us.

In addition to the help and advice that we can offer, independent advice can be found from any of the following:

  • Citizens Advice
  • Local Law Centre
  • Shelter
  • Your Local MP or Councillor - contact your local Council to find out these details

Your neighbourhood contact

Our neighbourhood teams are here to support you with feeling safe, secure, and happy in your home and community.

If you need to get in touch with any of our neighbourhood team, please contact us here.

Health and safety in your home

Your safety at home is so important to us. Find out more about gas, electrical, water and fire safety, absestos, lifting equipment as well as general tips and advice.

Home contents insurance

We do not provide contents insurance, so we would always recommend that you take it out to protect the things that matter to you the most. Find out more about home contents insurance here.

Keeping us up to date

It's important that you let us know if your circumstances change in any way. Even if you change your phone number or email address it's really helpful if you tell us so that we can update our records. Use the form on the contact us page of this site to do this really easily.

Mutual exchange

Are you looking for a home that suits you better without the waiting lists? Why not try Mutual Exchange.

You can find someone to swap with using the national HomeSwapper scheme. Simply set up a profile, browse thousands of homes and start up a conversation with those you're interested in. Hundreds of homes are swapped every month.

If you find an exchange partner using Home Swapper, or any other means, please contact us to start the application process. You must not swap homes until permission has been given. You must not make or receive any payment or gift in consideration of an exchange. This will be a breach of your tenancy agreement and you could lose your home.

Ending your tenancy

If you are having difficulties with your tenancy, we may be able to help. Before making a final decision to leave your home, please contact us to see if we can offer any support.

If you do decide to end your tenancy, you need to give us at least four weeks notice ending on a Sunday. You should arrange to return keys to us by 12pm on the Monday. Options to return keys will be discussed when you give notice to terminate. If you move out during the notice period, you are still responsible for paying the rent and other charges until your tenancy ends.

When you end your tenancy you must:

  • Tell us where you are moving to
  • Make sure anyone living with you leaves on the day that your tenancy ends
  • Leave your home clear of belongings, furniture and rubbish – this includes the loft and outside of your home. You may be charged for anything that we have to remove
  • Make good any outstanding repairs for which you are responsible
  • Make good any changes that you made during the tenancy
  • Make sure that you do not owe us rent or any other charges
