Plus Dane begin £5.5 million Kirkby scheme

31st May 2018

Construction of a new £5.5 million housing development in Kirkby has begun.

North west housing association, Plus Dane Housing, have reached an agreement with Knowsley Council to develop 43 new affordable homes on an area of land off Shacklady Road in Kirkby.

Alan Green, Director of Development at Plus Dane, said: “We’re very excited to be working in partnership with Knowsley Council to bring 43 new affordable rent homes to Kirkby. These properties have been designed by Brock Carmichael Architects to meet the needs of local families. Brock Carmichael Architects were previously involved with Plus Dane’s award-winning developments at Quarryside Drive and Quarry Brook in Kirkby.”

The scheme will consist of one and two bedroom flats, two bedroom bungalows, and two and three bedroom houses and so offer range of a wide range affordable home options.

Councillor Tony Brennan, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said: “It is a key priority for us to enhance the housing provision in Knowsley and it is particularly important that we are able to provide more quality, affordable homes for local people. This development fits in with our growth agenda and plans to deliver 8,000 new homes by 2028, offering a mix of executive, family, first-time buyer and affordable homes.”

Alan Green, Director of Development at Plus Dane, said: ““Plus Dane is passionate about delivering quality homes that local people can afford to live in. We’re proud to be working with Knowsley Council on this project and to make these homes available to the people of Kirkby. The scheme will benefit from £1.38 million funding from Homes England and we’re really looking forward to welcoming people to move in from September 2019.”

“These affordable rent homes will be made available through the Property Pool Plus website.”
